As an East African of Ugandan descent, the initial idea of this blog was to impact the regional financial markets through providing relevant information to interested parties like investors, professionals, scholars and the business community with the goal of contributing to more informationally efficient markets.

As a financial analyst, it is now clearer that the regional markets are influenced by foreign interest and investment, economic performance within and out of the region, global economic and financial activity. To that effect information cannot be limited to the region but will encompass news, articles, analysis, and reports on other African countries, regions and continents whenever necessary.

Given that most of the financing comes from the European, UK, US and now the Asian markets, the need to understand what is happening in the global economy, financial markets, the currency situation etc. cannot be emphasised enough. Such activity could have direct or indirect implications on the economic and investment climate.

Even though initially FINANCE AND INVESTMENT-EAST AFRICA was East African focused, it is part of the bigger global picture.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. – John Donne.
